NEW YORK — Authorities say a Connecticut man has been arrested after they discovered he was carrying a loaded handgun during a security screening at LaGuardia Airport in New York.
John Rodrigues, 52, of Meriden, was arrested Thursday and charged with criminal possession of a weapon.
A Port Authority of New York and New Jersey police spokesman says officers noticed the handgun in Rodrigues’ laptop bag when he was going through the screening area at Terminal C around 12:30 p.m. on Thursday. He says the Ruger .380 semi-automatic pistol was loaded with six rounds.
Spokesman Joe Pentangelo says Rodrigues was arrested without incident and there was no disruption to the airport’s operation.
