BRANFORD--A little league field that has been vandalized repeatedly has caught the attention of a local business.

SCS Secuity System out of North Haven and East Haven is donating and installing a security system that would’ve cost Branford Little League $5,000.

Jason Hilton was ordered by his boss, Clem Laurello, to report to Branford Little League to start installing a security system.

“He heard they were gonna do a fundraiser for it and he realized he could probably step in and help out with it so the fundraiser could actually go toward helping the field and everything,” Hilton said.

Hilton said Laurello doesn't want to be recognized for the gesture. “Not his kind of thing,” said Hilton.

But Scott Villa, the president of the league, wants attention brought to his generosity. “The karma that comes from Clem is just awesome. “

Villa couldn't believe it when he got the call from Laurello, who's not even from Branford, saying, "I would like to donate and install a security system."

“Full security system with night vision, controlled through a phone so we can monitor what's going on, top flight security system on Clem,” said Villa.

Villa says it is much needed. The windows, locks and batting cages have been damaged in the past repeatedly. The league bought a new cover and net, and within hours it was damaged. Then, after it was repaired the next day, the vandals came back and damaged the repairs.

This is not the first time businesses have stepped in when vandals have done damage here. Villa says the players and parents feel proud to be part of such a tight knit community.
