MILFORD — A former police officer involved in a high-speed cruiser crash that killed two 19-year-olds in 2009 has been sentenced to one year in prison.

Former Milford officer Jason Anderson was sentenced Wednesday in Milford Superior Court.

Authorities say Anderson was driving more than 90 mph without his emergency lights and siren on when David Servin turned his car left in front of Anderson and the vehicles collided. Servin and his passenger, Ashlie Krakowski, were killed.

“We’re not happy about the plea agreement but we are satisfied that he finally accepted responsibility and apologized,” the victim’s mother and father, Susan and Frank Servin, said in a statement.

Anderson was convicted in 2012 by a Superior Court jury of reckless driving and two counts of misconduct with a motor vehicle. He was sentenced in 2013 to five years in prison.

The state Appellate Court granted Anderson a new trial in June 2015.

He has been free on bond while he appealed.
