SOUTHINGTON–A mother was arrested this week on charges of abusing her daughter.

On January 1, 2016, Southington Police got a report from the Department of Children and Families that an 11-month-old girl had been taken to the Central Connecticut Bradley Memorial Hospital with numerous head injuries. It was suspected that the injuries were a result of abuse.

The investigation revealed that the child had solely been cared for by her mother, Brittany DeMasi, when she got the injuries. A warrant issued for DeMasi’s arrest states that she didn’t provide adequate supervision of the child.

On May 2, DeMasi, 26, of Southington, turned herself in to police.

She is charged with risk of injury to a child, and has been released on bail.
