Shelton woman killed in head-on collision on Rt. 110

SHELTON - A Shelton woman was killed in a head-on crash on Route 110 in Shelton.

The two-car accident on River Road happened between Murphy's Lane and Long Hill Avenue, in front of the Sports Center of Connecticut, at around 1:30 p.m. The road was closed but reopened around 5:30 p.m.

Samantha Monaco, 23,  and Rosemarie Dwyer, 69, both of Shelton were involved in the accident. Monaco was taken to Bridgeport Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. Dwyer was also taken to Bridgeport Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

The Shelton Police Traffic Division Reconstruction Team is currently investigating the accident.
