NEW HAVEN – ‘Normal America’ isn’t a small town of white people, according to a website called fivethirtyeight.com.
The statement was in response to an op-ed written for The Wall Street Journal accusing the Washington political establishment of being out of touch with “normal America.”
Fivethirtyeight.com put out a study of “normalcy” based on such data as age, education, race and ethnicity.
New Haven topped the list, with Hartford at third and nearby Springfield, Mass. coming in at fifth.
The fivethirtyeight.com story hopes to underscore that most Americans don’t live in small towns in rural parts of the country.
