Naugatuck police investigating after suspicious man approached kids, offered them rides

NAUGATUCK — Police are investigating two separate incidents where a man approached children in town and offered them rides.

Police said children reported they were approached by a man offering to give them rides. The children were between 10 and 14 years old.  The incidents occurred on Bridge Street near lower Spring Street two days apart.

The first incident occurred on Saturday at about 11:30 a.m., the second  about 7:45 a.m. Monday morning.

Police said both time the children were asked if they wanted a ride from a suspect described as a white male, about 40 to 50 years old, driving a red vehicle. They said the man was balding and appeared to have a pony tail along with an unshaven appearance.
