MANCHESTER — A Connecticut pizza delivery driver police say drove from the scene after hitting a pedestrian who later died is facing a manslaughter charge.

According to an arrest warrant released Monday, 42-year-old Isa Uzun, of Bristol, is charged with second-degree manslaughter in the death of Maura Holmes, who was struck in Manchester in October. She died two weeks later.

The Courant reports that Uzun turned himself in at the urging of his wife about two hours after Holmes was struck and was originally charged with lesser offenses.

He said he was delivering pizzas for a local restaurant and had just made his last delivery when he struck the woman. He said left the area because the person he struck threw a bottle that smashed against his windshield and he was scared.
