SPRAGUE–Another town has been taken out of contention for a State Police training and gun range, leaving just one possibility.

Sprague had been a remaining contender until the decision was made on Tuesday. It was taken off the list due to a solar panel farm, logging and thinning of forests.

The only remaining option is the Lee Road site in Griswold. An environmental impact study will be conducted to determine if the plot is viable, but that will take 18 to 24 months.

At some point public hearings would need to be scheduled as well by the Department of Administrative Services to hear any opposition from residents. Those public hearings led to Willington and East Windsor being removed from contention after neighbors complained about how the range would impact their towns.
