WESTPORT — A serious crash on Route 1 killed a Westport man Friday morning at around 10.
Harry Engle, 83, was seriously injured in the three-car crash, and was taken to Norwalk Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
The crash closed a portion of Route 1 from Compo Road to Hillspoint Road. The road was reopened around 1:20 p.
Police said a westbound vehicle on the Post Road crossed into the eastbound lane, creating a head-on collision with two vehicles. The operators of the eastbound vehicles were not injured in the crash and were present at the scene.
Police said the cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Westport Police Department Accident Investigation Unit. No charges have been filed at this time.
