STORRS - The University of Connecticut Huskies and the University of Central Florida kicked off a three-game series Friday with an 11 a.m. start, trying to beat the impending rain, at J.O. Christian Field. After falling behind early, pro prospect Anthony Kay settled down and went eight complete innings only giving up seven hits and tallying six strikeouts. It took some late inning heroics by Joe DeRoche-Duffin for Kay to grab his sixth win of the season. DeRoche-Duffin hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth to seal the victory. The two teams will face off again on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. and a noon Sunday finale.
