East Hartford police investigating homicide

EAST HARTFORD — Police are investigating a homicide that happened late Monday night.

Police were called to 39-41 Rector Street around 11 p.m. to investigate a shooting called in by residents in the area.

Officials confirmed the victim was shot in the car. He was pronounced dead at Hartford Hospital, and has since been identified as Marshall Wiggins, 35. He lived at the address where he was shot.

There was no information on suspects or other circumstances about the incident.The car was found with multiple bullet holes.

The scene is on a residential street near the intersection of Main Street and Burnside Avenue

Police were on scene until early morning Tuesday.

The death is the third homicide in East Hartford in 2016.
