Man and woman killed in Hartford’s South End identified

HARTFORD -- Police have identified the victims of  a Monday night shooting in the city's south end.

Police responded to the area of Campfield Avenue and Cowles Street around 10:30  p.m. Monday night. Officials said they found Joshua Cortez, 22, of Hartford, lying in the roadway. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the shooting.

Deputy Chief Brian Foley said the deaths were likely due to domestic relationship issues escalating between several people.

Alysha Ocasio, 23, of Newington, inside the car later died at Hartford Hospital. No suspect description is available at this time.

The Shooting Task Force Division and the Major Crimes Division is investigating.
