The South Windsor Bobcats held on to defeat the Avon Falcons 3-2 in baseball Friday night. The Bobcats jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead after two innings before the Falcons got on track. In the top of the seventh Avon had runners in scoring position when William Nowak scooped up the grounder and threw to first, just in time for the game-ending out. South Windsor has two more regular season games next week while Avon finishes their regular season Monday at Farmington.

Simsbury was the site for a match up of two 14-1 lacrosse teams as the Trojans hosted the Tomahawks of Glastonbury. The scoring started early, allbeit from an unlikely source: Trojan goalie Colin Walsh, who scored the game's first goal, just over two minutes in. The two teams traded the lead several times in the first half but Simsbury held a slim 5-4 lead at the break. In the third quarter the Trojans scored four unanswered goals to take a 9-4 advantage into the final quarter. The Tomahawks fought back to trail by only three goals but Walsh would shut the door on any comeback and Simsbury won 10-7.
