NEW HAVEN -- At Yale University’s commencement ceremony Monday afternoon, we asked: what is the best advice someone has given you during your time at Yale?

“Take a minute, stop, look around, and treasure the opportunities that are there for you,” said Megan Toon of Somerset, England.

“You don’t have to have a clear path to figure out," Charlotte Newell, of Naples, Florida said. "Things will work out.”

In the end – amidst the pomp and circumstance, the smiles stood out -- grins from students a bit smarter, a bit more relaxed, and with a new outlook on life.

“What resonates most is that Dean Holloway yesterday spoke of love. You need love for friendships, relationships," said Nasos Abuel. "Life is not just all about career. “

Did you need a Yale degree for that, we asked him?

“No, but when you’re in an environment that focuses on achievement, it’s important to not forget people,” Abuel said.
