STAMFORD — Former presidential candidate Carly Fiorina was the keynote speaker at the 2016 Prescott Bush Awards Dinner Tuesday night. During her address, she made it clear that certain topics from the campaign trail would not be discussed.

“I want to assure you that I’m actually not going to get into the strum and drum, the back and forth of a hot election season,” said Fiorina.

The former CEO of Hewlett-Packard signed on as the keynote speaker before she agreed to be Ted Cruz’ running mate. After the Cruz camp conceded its race for the White House, Fiorina remained scheduled.

“If you look at politics today it kinda feels like a sport doesn’t it? We cover it like a sport,” remarked Fiorina.

One notable absence during the address was any reference to the presumptive GOP presidential nominee, Donald Trump, who at times, traded insults with Fiorina during the campaign trail.

At one point, she remarked, “It will be up to the nominee of our party and to all of us as Republicans to remind people of the level of corruption in service of ambition.”

The speech also took many swipes at Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton, as well as Democratic elites, and even the GOP establishment.

The speech ended on a more hopeful note that voters will make an informed decision in November.

“Remember who you are,” she said. “I think that’s good advice for us. I think it is good advice for us as Americans and for us as Republicans tonight… to remember who we are.”
