HARTFORD -- Police in three Connecticut towns have rescued fawns in just the last few days.
Wednesday, the East Lyme Police Department and Suffield Police Department posted on their respective Facebook pages about what happened.
In Suffield, the two-day-old fawn was brought to the police station by a concerned citizen. They took the animals to a rehabilitation facility. Police said the fawn was turned over to the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.
In East Lyme, an officer helped to relocate a fawn after it was found in a fenced in area at an elementary school Wednesday morning. The fawn was trying to escape by running into the fence, but it was injuring itself. Officer Langman was able to get the fawn safely across the road to a wooded area, the department wrote on Facebook.
On Saturday, a woman found a fawn near its mother in Hartford. The mother had been struck and killed by a car. The woman took the fawn to the police station where officers took care of it until the DEEP could arrive.
DEEP urges residents to be careful with young wildlife.
The DEEP recommends in most cases leaving animals alone if found in the wild if it's unclear if the parent is nearby.
