HARTFORD — A 39-year-old man has pleaded guilty to charges connected to injuries sustained by a 10-week-old baby in his care in Enfield.
The Hartford Courant reports that Michael Jiles pleaded guilty Thursday to risk of injury to a minor after reaching a plea agreement with prosecutors.
The Springfield, Massachusetts man initially faced charges of first-degree assault, first-degree reckless endangerment and cruelty to persons.
Under the terms of the plea deal, Jiles will be sentenced to five years in prison. His parental rights have been terminated.
Jiles’ arrest warrant states that the child suffered broken ribs, a broken arm, a broken left thigh and a wound that caused blood clotting around the brain.
Charges of risk of injury to a minor and cruelty to persons are pending against the child’s mother, Nicole Danielle Rousseau, 34. She is due in court Friday.
