GROTON--This year's ECC conference baseball title game was played at Fitch High School, but didn't feature the home team. The game paired up the Waterford Lancers, ranked #2 in the state, taking on the underdog Norwich Free Academy Wildcats, which ranked only #7 in the conference.

The Lancers took control in the third inning by scoring three runs.

However, the favorite in the game was about to run out of luck. By the top of the fifth NFA had tied up the game 4-4, and the Wildcats weren't quite done yet.

NFA added three more by the end and shocked many by securing the ECC conference title with a final score of 7-4.
