SHELTON — A woman and her son are both facing several charges for selling prescription pills in Shelton, police said.

Arlene Bruneau, 74, and her son Richard Rich, 56, were arrested Wednesday, June 1, said Detective Richard Bango.

Police said they were investigating the pair for a month. They found Bruneau was selling pills that were prescribed to her out of her home on Howe Avenue. Buyers would walk up to her door for purchases. During her arrest, police said, they discovered Rich was also in possession of narcotics.

Police say the drugs were opiates, but wouldn’t elaborate.

Bruneau’s 15-year-old grandson also lives in the home.

Bruneau was charged with 2 counts of sale of a controlled substance and risk of injury/impairing the morals of a child. Rich was charged with illegal possession, use of drug paraphernalia, and failure to keep drug in original container.
