Woman stabbed in Hamden WalMart; Man arrested

HAMDEN — Police said a man was arrested on first degree assault charges after a woman was stabbed in WalMart Tuesday evening.

Police were called to the Walmart on Dixwell Avenue at 6:45 p.m. and found a 62-year-old woman who had been stabbed in the chest. She was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital. Police did not have information on her condition.

Authorities arrested Nathaniel Williams after finding him standing in front of the store.

Hamden Police determined that Williams and the victim know each other.

Williams, 68, of New Haven, was charged with first degree assault and breach of peace. He was held on $50,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Meriden court Wednesday.
