WOODBRIDGE--The Amity High School Spartans baseball team currently has an impressive 24-1 record, and this Saturday will face the Southington Blue Knights in the state tournament quarter finals. What's even more impressive is that the Spartans are poised to win the team's fourth-straight Class LL state title.

Head coach Sal Coppola feels the pitching and defense of the team has been the key to its success all year, and recently the Amity bats have started to heat up.

The number-one-seeded Spartans started tournament play with a 10-0 win over the Stamford Black Knights and followed that up with 5-0 shutout of the Danbury Mad Hatters. The quarter-final game against Southington will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at Amity Regional High School in Woodbridge.
