WINSTED – Police are investigating a Winsted home invasion.
On Wednesday just before 10 p.m. police said they went to a disturbance at 111 Rockwell Street in Winsted.
Police said that the people living there were victims of a home invasion and assault by people they didn’t know.
The suspects ran away before police arrived.
One victim sustained minor injuries, and a second victim was taken to the hospital for evaluation of non-life threatening injuries.
At around 10:15 p.m. a K-9 team was called in to help search the area.
Police said they found and arrested Elias Estremera, 46, of Torrington.
Police said the home invasion does not appear to be a random incident, and the general public is not in any danger.
Estremera was charged with home invasion, first-degree burglary, first-degree assault, third-degree assault, first-degree robbery, first-degree threatening, sixth-degree larceny, and breach of peace.
He was scheduled to appear in Litchfield Superior Court on Thursday and is being held on $500,000 bail.
