1 injured in explosion at manufacturing plant
STERLING — One person has been injured in an explosion at a manufacturing plant.
It happened Saturday morning at Maxam Initiating Systems in Sterling.
State police say the company, which manufactures initiating systems for blasting operations, was evacuated. One person suffered a minor injury, and was taken to a hospital for evaluation.
State police say a minor malfunction had occurred within the automated manufacturing line. The incident does not appear to be criminal in nature. The building and manufacturing line were later rendered safe by state police bomb technicians without further incident.
