HARTFORD - On Saturday morning, Lieutenant Governor Nancy Wyman made opening remarks at the annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure event at Bushnell Park.

The Greater Hartford event raises money and awareness for breast cancer research, and provides support for breast cancer survivors.

Seventy-five percent of the funds raised Saturday will stay right here in the state of Connecticut and are distributed to local organizations. The other twenty-five percent goes to research.

Thousands of men and women of all ages were decked out in pink as runners hit the streets, about 1,000 total, along with 2,000 walkers.
