AMITY--The Amity Spartans have a chance to do something amazing this weekend. The baseball team will have an opportunity to win its fourth-straight state title at Palmer Field in Middletown!
But first, on Tuesday night the Spartans defeated the Green Wave of New Milford 3-1 at Muzzy Field in Bristol, taking one step closer to victory!
Amity was down 1-0 in the third inning when Patrick Winkel sent a ground ball toward second base, which just got away from the in-fielder and was enough for Andrew Hague to slide head first and tie the game 1-1. Later in the inning Brian Ronai bounced a hit to third base, which was enough for Chris Winkle to cross the plate and give Amity a lead 2-1.
Then in the sixth, Rohan Patel sent a ground ball over second base and Colin Beaulieu got on his horse from second base, crossing home plate for the final score 3-1.
