MERIDEN — A happy ending to a sad story.

On Monday night a family was devastated after their puppy was stolen while they were at a park.

Around 9 p.m. Monday Allison Vaughan was at Ben Nessing Field, located at 528 Murdock Ave. in Meriden, when her family’s 14-week-old Rottweiler-Labrador mix was stolen.  She posted on her Facebook, as well as the Meriden Animal Control Facebook page, that her three young children were heartbroken over the loss and desperately wanted him back.

On Tuesday evening around 5 p.m. Allison said that because of media attention she got a tip that led to Cainan. He’s now home and reunited with his family.

The family had put up a $650 reward with no questions asked for anyone who brought Cainan home, but it’s not clear how the family got the dog back or if someone collected the dog.
