STRATFORD–A teacher is being charged after he tried to interfere wit ha police investigation into alleged inappropriate interactions he had with his students.

A complaint was made to Stratford Police on February 25 that Gregg Gustafson had been wrestling with students. A mother caught him doing it in her home with a teenage boy, and it was videotaped.

Administrators weren’t aware of the home visit that Gustafson had made, and it was discovered he’d wrestled with other students.

During the investigation, police say that Gustafson offered money to the  boy to change his testimony and give him the video.

Gustafson is charged with tampering with a witness, criminal attempt at bribery of a witness, and tampering with or fabricating evidence. He was released on a $25,000 bond and will appear in court on June 14.

Superintendent Janet Robinson suspended Gustafson, who was a high school math teacher, on March 31 as soon as she was informed of the high school students’ allegations. He had taught at the school for five years.

“While I have been assured by investigators that this case doesn’t appear to be sexual in nature, any inappropriate behavior involving our students will not be tolerated,” Robinson said in a statement.
