MADISON — The body of a man missing in the waters of Long Island Sound was recovered shortly after noon Monday, DEEP said in a statement.

He is the second person to die in the boating accident.

A search was launched after three other people that had been with the man turned up early Monday morning on a beach in Southold.  The four had set off with a kayak and a paddleboard from Hammonasset Beach State Park, Madison, sometime Sunday evening.

A woman and a young girl were found on the beach near Southold, New York across Long Island Sound early Monday morning after their calls were heard by a nearby resident. The body of a 31-year-old man was found a short distance way.

The Coast Guard had been searching for the last member of the group, a 44-year-old resident of Manchester in the waters off Madison. He was found Monday afternoon by the Clinton Fire Department about 5 miles south of the Conncticut River.

The adult female and a young girl who were taken to Eastern Long Island Hospital where they are being treated for hypothermia and are in stable condition.

The Coast Guard is also still searching for a person who went missing  in the Bridgeport Harbor, Sunday night.
