STAMFORD — The United States Geological Survey, or USGS, reported a small earthquake in Connecticut Monday morning.

The 1.25 magnitude quake happened around 10:12 a.m. just outside of Stamford.

The earthquake was 1.9 miles WNW of North Stamford, the USGS said.

Connecticut has never experienced an earthquake higher then the mid 4’s in magnitude, but seismologists worldwide remain interested in the state’s rumbles.

Back in January, reports of tremors in Connecticut and New Jersey were actually related to sonic booms from nearby military jets. People in Madison, Guilford, Norwalk and other Connecticut shoreline towns felt the tremors, and many wondered if it was an earthquake.
