HARTFORD -- Perhaps you've noticed a large construction site in Hartford, it's the future home of the Bone and Joint Institute at Hartford Hospital. In this Healthier Connections report, brought to you by Hartford HealthCare, Sarah Cody gives us an early look at the $150 million facility.

The building will feature exercise space and a motion lab where experts can observe patients recovering from fractures, joint replacements, or sports injuries.

Prevention is also a key part of their comprehensive approach.

There will be 48 private patient rooms and 8 high-tech operating rooms.

The institute plans to open in January.

Instances of hip and knee surgeries are expected to increase dramatically in the next 15 years.
