MANCHESTER – A drug lab was busted in Manchester Thursday.

On Thursday, police executed a search warrant at 33 Canterbury Street in Manchester after an investigation showed there was a meth lab there.

Police said sources told them crystal meth was being cooked at the house, so they set up an undercover surveillance operation.

Wayne Newbury, Jr., 41, was identified as the suspect who was cooking the meth.

Due to the hazardous conditions of meth labs, such as explosions and the presence of poisonous gas, a lab enforcement team and the Connecticut DEEP Emergency Response Unit were contacted to help search the house and clean it up.

Seized in the raid were chemicals jused for the manufacture of crystal meth, a small quantity of crystal meth, a handgun with a silencer, and other drug paraphernalia.

Newbury was charged with operating a drug factory  and manufacturing of a restricted substance.

He was held on a $150,000 bail.

Anyone with information pertaining to any illicit drug activity is asked to contact the East Central Narcotics Taskforce at (860) 645-5548. All calls will remain confidential.
