CHESTER - A man is missing and several dive teams are searching for him.

The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Police are on scene at Cedar Lake in Chester.

DEEP said they are searching for the man who apparently went missing from a capsized canoe at around 8 p.m. Saturday, and State Police are using sonar.

They said a woman who was on board was rescued by a Good Samaritan vessel and was taken to an area medical clinic for further treatment.

Both the man and woman are 49 years old and both live in Chester. They apparently set out on the lake at about 6:45 this evening. A fire official said it does not appear the man could swim.

The search for the missing man is also being conducted by Chester and Haddam fire departments and State Police.

A Middletown Fire Department dive team was also called in to help with the search.
