HARTFORD — Connecticut lawmakers will decide whether to try to overturn any of Democratic Gov. Dannel P. Malloy’s eight vetoes.

Starting Monday, the Democratic-controlled General Assembly has up to three to days to attempt to resurrect any bills Malloy nixed in recent weeks. It remains unclear whether they will attempt to override any of his vetoes.

Democratic Senate leaders decided last week not to override Malloy’s line item budget veto, which cut $22 million from the budget. Democratic House leaders supported an override, but couldn’t take any action because of the Senate’s decision.

Meanwhile, Treasurer Denise Nappier says Malloy was shortsighted in vetoing legislation that would enable her to offer higher salaries to investment officers, saying it would attract talent. Malloy calls the bill’s passage surprising given the state’s fiscal problems.
