BRIDGEPORT--At Lafayette Park in the heart of Bridgeport, the mosquitoes have disappeared, and just one year after Bridgeport's version of ground zero struggled to combat the West Nile virus.

Terron Jones, with Homeland Security in Bridgeport, is part of a team hitting the streets to get the word out on the latest danger: Zika.

"We always say in our office that information is power," Jones said while armed with a pile of pamplets.

The pamphlet lists easy tips for you to combat Zika, including the very important tip that homeowners must avoid leaving standing water on their property.

Meanwhile, mosquito repellent programs have already been implemented, and the city is working on surveillance of the threat from Central High School.
