11 cars to watch at the Barrett-Jackson Auction at Mohegan Sun

UNCASVILLE — Many car enthusiasts are looking for something different. The Barrett-Jackson auction at Mohegan Sun has many unique vehicles for all types of potential owners. American muscle cars, one of a kind prototypes, failed coupes from the disco era, and many more will cross the auction block this weekend.

This is the first time the famed auctioneers will set up shop in the Northeast. The live auction airs on Discovery.

The auction for vehicles runs on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, June 23 through June 25. Auctions for automotive memorabilia will be held as well each day.

The event will also feature ride and drive events, and symposiums.

Tickets start at $45 in advance, depending on the day you attend.  New Britain’s Swag Rides is auctioning off a joint venture they created along with the Special Olympics: a tricked out a 1966 Ford-100. We first showed you the car when it was just a shell back in March, as the project started to get underway.

Here’s a sample of some of the cars you’ll see:

1969 Chevrolet Corvette L88 (Lot #688)

This stripped down Corvette sported a big engine, had no radio and the heater was optional. It was designed for racing with a top speed measured at 171 mph.

2016 Shelby GT-H Prototype

It’s the first of only 170 total 2016 model-year Shelby GT-H coupes to be built to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first Ford, Hertz and Shelby American car.

1989 Lamborghini Countach 25th Anniversary Edition (Lot #638)

Presented in virtually all-original condition, including the Window Sticker, Bill of Sale, all purchase paperwork, payment check stubs, factory tool pouch, tire jack, insurance paperwork and all service records to 2015.

1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 RS and Pro Touring (Lot #671 and 671.1)

Essentially a factory built hot rod, the Z/28 RS was a screamer you could drive off the lot. It comes with all documentation from its original owner to today. The Pro Touring car started life with a six cylinder engine. It was modified to race and now has a 400 cubic inch V8 engine.

2004 Ford GT CP-1 (Lot #654)

Built in secrecy to celebrate Ford’s 100th anniversary, this Ford GT prototype is a one of a kind car, with features that did not make it to production like an aluminum headliner, carbon-fiber engine clamshell or silver seat inserts.

1967 Ferrari 330 GT 2+2 (Lot #665.1)

This prime example of Ferraris from the 1960’s had been completely restored. It features a 5-speed manual transmission and Boranni knockoff wire wheels.

1984 Ferrari 512 BBi (Lot #684)

Not quite Magnum P.I. or Miami Vice, the 512 BBi was Ferrari’s first mid-engine supercar. This particular example has less than 11,000 miles and comes complete and has with the factory-issued tool kit and service/ownership books.

1956 Porsche 356A (Lot #696)

A beautiful example of Porsches from the halcyon 1950s, this metallic green example is a classic. The car, with the iconic 1300cc flat 4-cyllinder with a 4-speed manual transmission, is in concours condition and includes a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity.

2010 Ford Focus RS Custom Coupe  (Lot #55)

One of the only legally imported examples of this model in the United States, this Focus features a 500 hp engine and many improvements, all with the intention to make it go fast.

1975 Bricklin SV-1 (Lot #116)

Gull wing doors, fiberglass body, and all the 1970s chic that you could ever want. A rare Bricklin with low miles, this one has been stored in a climate-controlled environment its entire life.
