Suspect in Thomaston fatally shot; State Police investigating

THOMASTON – State Police said they are investigating an officer-involved shooting in Thomaston.

They said that on Sunday the Thomaston Police Department was dispatched to a disturbance at 700 High Street Extension in Thomaston.

They said that upon arrival Thomaston Police Officers encountered an armed man. They said that the man approached police officers and ignored demands to stop.

A Thomaston Police Officer shot the man who was taken to Waterbury Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. There were no other reported injuries, according to police.

At around 7:15 p.m., the Thomaston Police Department requested the assistance of State Police. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will conduct a post-mortem examination to determine cause and manner of death.

The identity of the suspect and of the Thomaston Police Officer is pending. Police said this is an active, ongoing investigation.
