ENFIELD–A house fire in Enfield that didn’t seem too bad turned a whole lot more serious after a body was found inside.

A fire broke out at a Garden Street home on Tuesday just before 7 p.m. The fire was on the second floor and was quickly extinguished.

When firefighters did a sweep after putting out the flames, a deceased person was found. The person’s identity has not yet been released, and it’s not yet known if he died before the fire or from the fire.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire, and the cause of death is pending an autopsy.
