HARTFORD -- A record 43 million Americans will travel on the 4th of July. That’s 5 million more travelers than Memorial Day according to AAA.
2.2 million people are expected to travel at least 50+ miles.

People taking to the air travel are increasing as well. 3.3 million Americans will take off over the holiday weekend. That's more than 2 percent over last year, and the highest number of flyers since 2004.
U.S. drivers will pay the lowest Independence Day gas prices since 2005.
Average airfares for the top 40 domestic flight routes will be 9 percent less this Independence Day, with an average roundtrip ticket costing $207.
