HARTFORD — Connecticut will be receiving a $320,564 federal grant to help support its response to the Zika virus.

U.S. Rep. Rosa DeLauro announced Friday the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention funding will be used to identify and track Zika outbreaks, coordinate Connecticut’s response effort and help affected families find services.

DeLauro, who represents the 3rd Congressional District, said she still hopes Congress will approve the president’s request for $1.9 billion to address Zika nationally. DeLauro is the senior Democrat on the subcommittee responsible for funding the departments of Labor, Health and Human Services and Education.

Connecticut health officials have been conducting surveillance for Zika virus since February. No locally acquired cases have been reported.

The state recently kicked off an awareness campaign for the mosquito-borne illness at Bradley International Airport.
