NEW LONDON–A New London man has been arrested after State Police say he tried to get a 13-year-old girl from New Jersey to come visit him and spoke to her in a sexually explicit manner.

Bryan White, 39, of New London, is a registered sex offender. Police say that on June 29, the state Computer Crimes Unit got a request for help from the prosecutor’s office in Burlington County, New Jersey regarding a complaint out of Florence Township, New Jersey.

The investigation showed a Connecticut man was talking in a sexually explicit manner with a 13-year-old female in New Jersey, and had asked her to travel to Connecticut to have sexual intercourse with him.

The investigation indicated the girl planned to travel on a Greyhound bus on July 5. On July 5, Connecticut State Police and New London Police surveilled the New London Greyhound bus station and saw White waiting outside at the time the girl was supposed to arrive. He was arrested.

White is charged with enticing a minor, criminal attempt to commit enticing a minor, risk of injury to a minor, criminal attempt to commit risk of injury to a minor and criminal attempt to commit sexual assault in the second degree. He’s being held on $100,000 bond.

According to the state sex offender registry, in 2005 White was convicted of first-degree sexual assault involving sexual intercourse with someone under age 13. He was released from prison in November 2015. The registry says he is “non-compliant” with it because he “failed to verify address.”
