BRIDGEPORT — A warrant has been issued for a Michigan man in connection with a fatal hit and run that occurred Saturday police have labeled as a homicide.

Lorenzo Anthony Doke, 36, of Michigan was in custody in Maryland. Police expect him to be extradited to Connecticut and face charges of manslaughter and evading a responsibility.

Police identified the victim as Ricardo Rose, 56, of Bridgeport.

Police say that they found the truck the suspect was driving at JFK airport around 1 a.m.. The driver confessed that he was the one who ran over Rose.

According to police, Doke said he was driving through Bridgeport looking for drugs. Police said Doke told police it was his first time in Bridgeport.

Authorities said Ricardo Rose and the suspect met to make a deal for drugs. The suspect didn’t want to pay, and tried getting Rose out of the truck. He managed to get him on the running boards of the truck. The suspect then took off, trying to get Rose off the truck. Rose fell under the tires and was run over.

This is the city’s 3rd homicide this year.
