WINDSOR--With summer in full-swing, a group of students at the CREC Academy of Aerospace and Engineering are taking to the sky!

They are building an RV-12, an experimental light-sport aircraft, out of aluminum. It will be a two-seater, and will be kept at Brainard Airport when it's completed.

It is part of the curriculum at the school, which is designed for students to learn about engineering and aerospace engineering.

FOX 61 photojournalist Jeff Langan caught up with some of the students on Wednesday, where they have been showing up despite it being summer vacation in hopes of completing the plane in two years. Teachers have been stopping by too!

Each student in the school will play a part in the process.
