East Granby Fire Chief killed in Windsor crash Thursday night

WINDSOR — The Chief of the East Granby Volunteer Fire Department was killed in a crash in Windsor Thursday night.

The crash happened on Route 20 near Hamilton Road at 10:40 p.m. police said.

Peter Ahlstrin, 28, of East Granby, lost control of the pickup truck he was driving, hit a a guardrail, and rolled down an embankment, according to a release from State Police.

Ahlstrin was thrown from the truck and pinned under it. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Anyone who may have witnessed the accident is asked to contact Trooper Gregor at the Connecticut State Police Troop H barracks at 860-543-1000.
