Car fire causes major delays on Route 9 South in Berlin

BERLIN — Route 9 South in Berlin is seeing major traffic backups Tuesday afternoon.

A car fire closed the road between exits 23 and 22. State Police and the Berlin Volunteer Fire Department are responding to the scene.

The fire extended to brush along the roadway. The highway was closed for some time, but now officials say they are letting one lane squeeze by.

Berlin officers are assisting with traffic.
