NEW BRITAIN — The New Britain Fire Department says that the cause of a Miller Street house fire that killed one woman in June is still undetermined, though not suspicious.

On June 11 around 1:30 p.m. a fire broke out in a second-floor bedroom and though it was quickly brought under control a 63-year-old woman suffered smoke inhalation and burns. She was hospitalized, and died on June 30 from her injuries.

The only other occupant of the building was not present in the building at the time of the fire, and no one else was injured.

The New Britain Fire Marshal’s Office and the Connecticut Office of the State Fire Marshal both investigated the cause but couldn’t make a conclusion, though they did find that smoke alarms were present but didn’t go off.

The investigation is now closed.
