Putnam Pokemon Go drug arrests

PUTNAM — Three suspects were arrested Monday on narcotics charges, after the suspects claimed the popular game Pokémon GO brought them to town.

Police said about 6:30 p.m. Monday night, they were called to a bank parking lot on Kennedy Drive for a report of a man who had overdosed in a vehicle. The man was taken to Day Kimball Hospital. Police discovered heroin and opioids at the scene.

Police said Megan Gudeahn, 20, of Sterling, Thomas Giroux, 25,  of Rhode Island, and Wesley Carpenter, 21, of Sterling were charged with possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.

According to authorities, the suspects told them that it was the game Pokémon GO that brought them to Putnam.

They were released from custody and are scheduled to appear in court on July 27.
