WEST HARTFORD — Police are investigating what they termed a rash of car break-ins over the past week.

Police said about 20 residents complained of their cars being broken into and three reports of stolen cars since Sunday.

Police said all the vehicles were unlocked at the time.

The incidents happened at locations all over town according to police.

Police advised residents to remove keys and valuables, avoid leaving them running, lock their cars when they aren’t using them, and make sure outside lights are in working order.

Through the winter, West Hartford and other towns in the area saw a rise in car thefts and break ins. Several people were arrested in connection with the crimes.
