MIDDLETOWN - Game two of the American Legion baseball state finals was played Saturday in Middletown.

Stamford Post 3 held on to win 6-4 over RCP Post 105 and force a deciding game three Sunday back at Palmer Field.

RCP got an early lead that was quickly countered by Stamford who went out in front 3-1 in the fourth inning.

Stamford would be in the lead 5-1 in the bottom of the sixth when Nick Queiroz sent the fly ball into center field that should have been a routine fly ball but a miscommunication ended in a collision and the ball hits the ground. Two runs would score and the Stamford lead shrunk to 5-3.

Then in the bottom of the ninth with two outs, RCP trailed 6-4 but had the bases loaded when Roland Thivierge sent the fly ball in foul territory along the first base dugout. Leo Socci raced off the mound to help his own cause and made a great catch to end the game.
