NEWINGTON–A woman has been arrested months after a pedestrian was hit and killed.

Police say that Alyssa Santos, 26, of Newington, turned herself in to police on July 21 for an active warrant. She’s accused of not obeying a traffic control signal on February 25 and hitting a pedestrian who was crossing at the intersection of Cedar Street and Mill Street Extension in Newington.

The pedestrian, identified as Walter Arnett, 63, of Newington, died from the injuries he sustained in the crash.

Santos is charged with negligent homicide with a motor vehicle and failure to obey traffic control signal. She was released on $10,000 bond and will be in court Thursday.
